Pokračovanie 4. dielu série z dôb moderného vojenstva, kde sa opäť pozriete na stredný východ v úlohe amerického mariňáka. V hre sa dočkáte množstva starých dobrých zbraní, vrátane M16 alebo M40, ale tiež nových, ako odstrelovačky SR25M alebo L85A2.

Nový nadväzujúci príbeh je omnoho viac zahalený tajomstvom a úmysly hlavného zloducha Makarova nebudú známe takmer do konca hry. Presne ako v skutočnosti, budete teda často posielaní na miesto určenia bez dôležitých informácií, prípadne s úplne skreslenou predstavou a až na mieste vám dôjde skutočná realita. Potešujúcou správou je, že sa z prvého dielu vracia celá rada postáv na čele s kapitánom MacTavishom a.k.a. Soapom. Prenikanie do hry je tak určite príjemnejšie.

V multiplayeri nájdete celkovo 35 zbraní. Úplne novým módom je tzv. Special Forces, kde mapy sú špeciálne navrhnuté pre kooperatívnu hru. Vám a vášmu kolegovi budú zadané úlohy, ktoré pôjdu splniť iba vo dvoch, takže si jeden bez druhého neškrtnete. Okrem tejto náhrady co-op singleplayeru sa samozrejme vracia i multiplayer klasický so všetkou zásobou módov, odznakov a RPG prvkov, na ktoré sú hráči zvyknutí.
